Algorithms for flow direction

margherita
Hi List,

Can anyone point me out any references regarding the algorithms
implemented in flow direction/accumulation construction and river
network extraction with jgrass? is it possible with jgrass to run
different methods, such as Single Flow Direction, Multiple FD, DEMON,
ANDRA, RHO, or others?

Thank you in advance

Ciao Margherita,
all the references for the Horton Machine modules are in:
Rigon R., Ghesla E., Tiso C. & Cozzini A., Cozzini The HORTON machine: a system for DEM analysis : the reference manual . Trento: Università di Trento. Dipartimento di ingegneria civile e ambientale, May 2006. - p. viii, 136, ISBN 10:88-8443-147-6.

You can download it from this link http://www.ing.unitn.it/dica/hp/?user=rigon under Publications (pdf).

In JGrass we have only the D8 flow direction module and a correction on that based on Orlandini, I think Riccardo and Daniele can explain better.

Ciao

Silvia

I see that Silvia already answered. However, in the Horton Machine is implemented also the multiple flow direction (but I would discourage to use it since it does not have a theoretical rational: was just a primitive effort by P. Quinn and others). The method given by Draindir is the one derived from Orlandini et al 2003, which also generalizes the single flow direction. Do not know what others methods are, except DEMON (Costa Cabral, I suppose: it should not give results different or better than Orlandini's method). However Orlandini method is good enough to solve most of the problems I had. I have also theoretical reasons for not implementing Dinfinity (by David Tarboton).

However,  I will appreciate if you can give us information about the other methods.

All the best,

riccardo rigon

Being a existed Location, my first step was uploading into the Catalog my Location (image nr. 1 - 2);
the problem is that was uploaded the mapset (user1) instead of Location (image 2);
i’ve tried to drag and drop this location, but no result (image3 - 4)
