From Russia with logs

Lars Aronsson
Lately somebody has been adding large amounts of track logs from
Russia, including St Petersburg, the surrounding area, and the
road all the way to Murmansk.  I'm curious to learn who did this.
Is that person on this list?

Most of the logs are very good, probably sampled at 1 or 2 second
intervals.  A few are very coarse.  Many roads run straight for
very long.  Is that typical of Russia, or are these railroads?

The screenshots for QPEGPS, GPS moving-map software for handhelds running
the OPIE distribution, appear to come from someone in Russia.  Could be
your person?

Nope, these maps show Minsk and Moscow, and OSM has St Petersburg,
Vyborg, Pskov, Novgorod and Murmansk.  Looks like a nice
application, though.

 it seems that a strait road in the south-east
 direction is not a railroad:
