Rendering of construction sites by Mapnik

Martijn van Exel-3
Hi all,

I think the rendering of construction sites (landuse=construction /
brownfield) could be a little more subdued in color. As it is they
stand out too much, I believe.
See here for example: http://osm.org/go/0E5qt253--
A lighter tone of brown maybe? IANAC[1]
What do you think?

The same thing goes for landuse=brownfield (and also greenfield, I think).

IAAC[1]

common use in cartography is to hatch objects that do not have a clear or definite status.

Re: Rendering of construction sites by Mapnik

Martijn van Exel-3
That would have to be a very subtle hatch, otherwise it would look ugly to me.
You don't want things that are not there (yet) to stand out more than
things that are. At least not on a general purpose map.
I don't know if Mapnik can even do hatching? I bet it can. It is
awesome & can do anything.
