error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Amit Kulkarni-5
Hello,

I try to compile Kosmo . But I get this error

The method sort(List<T>, Comparator<? super T>) in the type Collections is not applicable for the arguments (List, Comparator<capture#3-of ?>)    CheckBoxJListSelectionPanel.java    /saig-core/src/org/saig/jump/widgets/util    line 285    Java Problem

    public void setListObjects( Collection objectCollection ) {
        List objectList = new ArrayList(objectCollection);

        // Ordeno los objetos de la lista por su toString()
        if (comparator != null) {
            Collections.sort(objectList, comparator); ==> OFFENDING LINE
        } else {
            Collections.sort(objectList, new ObjectComparator());
        }
        selectionMap.clear();

I change offending line to

Collections.sort(objectList); ==> OFFENDING LINE

and it compiles workspace fine.

Is there discrepancy?
-----------------------------------------------------
I want to compile so I can add keyboard shortcuts for certain actions, say Ctrl + E for Editing etc... Has anybody done this or can somebody point out the best place to add the code. I want it to be configurable, so user can set keybord shortcuts in a menu somewhere.

Thanks for your help

Hi Amit.

Could you tell me the compiler you're using (Eclipse, NetBeans, ...),
its version, the JRE version and you OS? It's strange, because we
develop Kosmo - Desktop using Eclipse and Windows XP/Vista/Linux with
JRE 1.6_03/1.6_18 and it doesn't complain about that

Re: error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Amit Kulkarni-5
Hi Sergio,

I just download eclipse yesterday (eclipse-java-galileo-SR2-win32.zip), and follow your tutorial (mostly because I see the pictures), I have JDK & JRE 6 update 16, Windows 2000. I did clean build and did it again 2-3 times, it repeats. I am not at work, but the eclipse compiler is what is bundled in the zip file.

Thanks

Re: error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Hi Sergio,

I checked right now and the eclipse  compiler has a java_home pointing to JDK 1.6 update 18, and the java compiler I have is from Sun and is JDK 1.6 update 18.

I will upgrade to Windows XP in a few weeks. Is there anything else which can help you to track it down?

Thanks

Re: error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Good morning Amit.

I've checked my Eclipse version and it's the next:

S.O.: Windows Vista
Eclipse Version: 3.4.1
Build id: M20080911-1700

We're also using JDK update 18, under Windows XP / Windows Vista /
Ubuntu, and we haven't reproduced your error in any of them. I'll try
again with the last Eclipse download and I'll inform you about the results.

Re: error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Good morning again, Amit.

I've checked the problem again and I've a warning for that line, not an
error.

If you check Window > Preference > Java > Compiler > Errors/Warnings >
Generic Types option inside Eclipse, may be you have these settings as
Errors and not as Warnings. Please check it and tell me what you have found.

Re: error building 2.0 RC1 from source

Amit Kulkarni-5
Sergio,

Sorry for not answering before.

There are three checkboxes, and it is all set to warnings. Maybe it is WIndows 2000 based bug, who does development on it anyway. Please forget about it.

From About --> Help
Build id: 20100218-1602

From About --> Help --> Installation details
Eclipse Platform    3.5.2.M20100211-1343    org.eclipse.platform.ide

Thanks
