Andrea Antonello
The variables are set in the grass63.bat file:

set GRASSDIR=C:\Programmi\GRASS\grass
set GRASS_SH=%GRASSDIR%\msys\bin\sh.ex

Good luck!
Andrea

this is the grass63.bat file of my JGrass foss4g 2008 version:
grass63.bat

I have just the GRASS_SH variable set.

I have tried also to insert an absolute path:
GRASS_SH=C:\Programmi\jgrass\jgrass\grass\msys\bin\msys\bin\sh.exe

But I have the same error.

Still there is hope :)

Beeing you file such that it contains:

set GRASSDIR=C:\Programmi\grass
set GRASS_SH=%GRASSDIR%\msys\bin\sh.exe

you should use:

GRASS_SH=C:\Programmi\grass\msys\bin\sh.exe

I have always the same error. I think it's a simple problem, but I'm not able to solve it. It woud be fantastic that someone of you make the test in a windows machine.

Yes, I think you are right. We have that problem that no one here
works on windows.
I will try to give it a look as soon as possible.

I finally tried that on a windows machine and that works for me.
In fact having put the GRASS_SH parent folder in the path, you should
be able to launch it substituting:

@"%GRASS_SH%" -c '"C:/Programmi/jgrass/jgrass/grass/scripts/r.shaded.relief"

with:

@"sh.exe%" -c '"%GISBASE%/scripts/r.shaded.relief" %*'

This works for me on winXP.

I am not sure right now how to add the GRASS_SH variable to the
environment, I will have to think about it when I have more time.
Could you please open a bug report for this?

Let me know if it works for you,
Ciao
Andrea

once again I feel myself stupid. These my steps:
- I have add to the path the variable GRASS_SH with the value "C:\Programmi\jgrass\jgrass\grass\msys\bin"
- I have opened "C:\Programmi\jgrass\jgrass\grass\bin\r.shaded.relief.bat" and modify
@"%GRASS_SH%" -c '"C:/Programmi/jgrass/jgrass/grass/scripts/r.shaded.relief"

with

@"sh.exe%" -c '"%GISBASE%/scripts/r.shaded.relief" %*'

If I run r.shaded.relief.bat in JGrass console I have this error:
""C:\Programmi\jgrass\jgrass\grass\msys\bin"" non Š riconosciuto come comando interno o esterno,
un programma eseguibile o un file batch.
r.shaded.relief.bat : exit code: 1"

What's wrong in my procedure?

Thank you,

This is not necessary and also it probably breaks the thing, since the
GRASS_SH should point to the sh.xee and not to its parent folder.

Ufff, my fault, sorry for that... it is sh.exe without the % sign after it.

I think the % was the problem.

Anyway I was able to add the GRASS_SH variable to the JGrass
environment, so now it works without any touching of the bat file.
Today my server is exposed to the heavy snowfalls here in my hometown,
which made it switch of several times during preparation of the new
packages.
I switched it off, since I was afraid it could break. Now it is
several hours everything is ok, so perhaps this night i could upload
the changes.

Ciao
Andrea

Thanks Andrea, very appreciated.
...but pehaps I'm only because I feel ashamed about the very long list
of screencast tutorials I would like to ask you :))

Anyway, you are the kind of user that should absolutely think about to
join us when we do a code-sprint (also in your interest). Even if only
one day, I am sure you would be of big help.

Cheers,
