show version/build number for binary/script

it would be useful to have, for every binary/script
a --version
and
a log line like "dispatcher v0.74.9 starting" as the first line
when a binary/script start
and
the SCCS id string in the binary used by "what" tools (it is
a string starting with "@(#)" following with the version number)

I can make a PR for script if it help.
